Saving Money on Children’s Clothing

My children grow like weeds. Every time I turn around I have to buy them new clothes and shoes.

You don’t have to spend a lot of children’s clothing. Here are a few other options instead of paying retail.

Consignment Shops - We have great consignment shops locally. Everything in there is great quality and I can inspect the quality and sizes. I also like the fact I can clean out the closets and get credit towards more clothing.

Ebay or Thread up – I love to buy clothes in bulk from these places. I can always get a good deal.

Yard Sales – This takes a bit of time and hunting but I can always find clothes super cheap. May favorite is when people let you fill up bags for a couple of dollars.

Clothing Swaps – I was in a mom’s group and we did these seasonally. FREE clothing is great. I did find out that others standards aren’t always like mine so you have to really inspect but you can really make out for only a couple of hours of your time.

Discount clothing websites – Type in google and you will find TONS of great websites where you can get brand name clothing for a great deal!

We very rarely buy anything for retail price. My children dress cute and truthfully, they don’t get to wear everything in their closets.

My son’s in jr high now, and I swear he grows an inch taller every day! I used to get clothes from my sister, until my son caught up with her’s, now they’re both in an adult medium! He has definite opinions about what he’ll wear, and what he won’t. The good thing is his favorite outfit is either a t-shirt and jeans or a sports shirt and shorts. Sometimes I’ve found some great thrift store deals for those!

I check out co-signment stores whenever I get a chance. I love shopping there and Hayden even asks when we’re close to a store whether or not we’re stopping. LOL Its totally cute!

Thread Up is one of my favorites. It really doesn’t make sense to pay full price for kids clothes since they grow so dang fast!
