I am really excited to tell you about an awesome Christian art program by Master Artist Pat Knepley.  I received a DVD copy of Art Class Volume 1: Art Lessons 1-4, also known as The Basics.   This is an excellent beginnner instructional DVD perfect for all ages.  We reviewed this program with 5 homeschool students ranging in ages from 7-12 and each one of them was captivated from the moment Pat said, “hello friends!”  They stayed silent as tshe started with the most fundamental elements of drawing.  They also learned the basics of contours and composition and how to really draw what they saw.  I asked the kids after the lessons what they learned.  Their responses included that they had learned about new mediums, how to bring depth to objects and to draw different perspectives.  The parents enjoyed that the children all seemed to be so into the lessons, and really listened.

We all commented what a great video presence Pat has.  One thing that we all enjoyed was that each lessons ended with a Biblical scripture that tied art and the Lord together.  There are many more items available on her website, including a video blog on Tuesdays and Thursdays by  Jim Pence, one of their fabulous artists.
