Homemade Laundry Detergent

I have been making my own laundry detergent for quite some time now and it has saved my family a ton of money!  I do still spot clean stains, especially since I have toddlers. You can use a mixture of club soda & baking soda for the stains or sprays like shout.

Here is the recipe for the homemade laundry detergent1/3 bar of Fels Naptha or you can use a whole bar of a soap like Ivory1/2 cup Borax powder1/2 cup of washing soda.

You will need a bucket around 2 gallons or 5 gallon if you make a bigger batch.

Grate the soap and put it in a sauce pan. Now add 6 cups of water to the pan and heat it until it melts. Add the Borax and washing powder mixing until it is dissolved. Add 4 cups of warm water to the bucket then mix in the soap mixture.  Add another gallon of water and mix.  Let it sit 24hrs and it will gel.  Use 1/2 cup per load.

Mine doesn't always gel up 100% but that's OK because it still cleans very well.
