When I first moved into our house it was an assistant living home that needed to be completely remodeled. We had blue restaurant/ commercial carpeting. It was HORRID!! We decided to add carpet to the bedrooms and tile the rest.
We added the carpeting BEFORE we had children. I have since realized I HATE carpeting. Yes I understand that is a harsh word but that's how I feel. No matter how much I vacuum I can't get all of the dust and dirt out. It is literally a daily chore.
We have awful allergies. I don't recommend carpet for anyone with allergies. I grew up with carpeting and I didn't know how much it held until we tiled everything else. Dust bunnies everywhere! I keep the windows open so a lot blows in. I love the fresh air and I don't mind sweeping but I have to keep the bedroom windows and doors closed because I know if it gets in the carpet I won't be able to get it all out.
Stains – I have children. I also need to deep clean my carpets … again. They don't eat or drink in their bedrooms but there are stains anyway. Sigh. With the carpets I feel like I can never win.
It costs us over $800 to put the carpet in two bedrooms and they are NICE carpets but they just don't work for our family. I like the tile but even that isn't working for our family. We want wood floors or maybe maple laminate flooring
All I know is that I don't want carpet anymore, not even in the bedrooms. We ‘thought' we did because it's cozy but I don't. Maybe some throw rugs like we have in the living room. At least then I can pick them up and beat them to get all of the dirt, dust, and sand out.
Do you have carpet? Do you love your carpet?
We have carpet in the bedrooms, and I definitely don’t love it. In fact, we had the carpet removed in this house at one time, then put it back when we rented the house. Now we are living in it again and I really wish we could afford to do something else to the floor. WHERE do the stains on carpet come from?
No! I abhor carpet! Tile and wood laminate throughout, and I’ve never looked back 🙂

I hate carpet! I have 3 children with Cystic Fibrosis. They seemed to get sick a lot when we lived in a house with carpet! Just before we moved into our new home, we ripped out the carpet and put down laminate floors. It’s made such a huge difference in the health of my children. It’s so nice to be able to sweep up all the dirt and know that it’s not being hidden under a layer of carpet.
I couldn’t agree more!!
I totally agree with you. I HATE carpet with a passion, and my husband ripped it all out of our house and installed cherry wood laminate. I LOVE it, very easy to clean and it looks amazing. I can sleep easy at night knowing I am not breathing in the nastiness that accumulates on carpet 😉
