Cupcakes with homemade Marshmallow Frosting –
These yummy green cupcakes with green frosting make for a delicious and festive treat for your Halloween Party this year! They are very easy to make and includes a recipe for your very own marshmallow frosting! YUM! Let’s get started!
Money Spent: $0! I had everything on hand for making these!
Time Spent: total an hour!
Supplies needed for cupcakes: 1 box of cake mix, 3 eggs, ½ cup of butter and 2/3 cup of water, also green food coloring!
Supplies needed for Frosting: marshmallows or marshmallow fluff, ½ cup of butter, 4 cups of powdered sugar, Green Food Coloring and 1 tsp. of vanilla extract!
Procedure:
-Start by baking your cupcakes, simply follow the instructions on the box of your cake box, the only thing extra you need to add is green food coloring! I did about 3 drops!
-Be sure to fill up each cup about ¾ of the way full! I like them to be nice and big cupcakes, so I do just a little bit more than that!
-Now to make your frosting!
*Note: I only made 12 cupcakes, most cake boxes will make 24! So this amount of everything gave me enough to frost the 12 and have a bit leftover! So I would double the recipe if you're making 24 cupcakes!
-You’re going to start by melting your marshmallows; I used about 15 regular size marshmallows.Melt those in the microwave; it takes about 45 seconds but check on them about every 15 seconds.
-next add your ½ cup of butter and mix those together until well mixed!
-Then throw in your teaspoon of vanilla.
-Finally start gradually adding the powdered sugar and mixing at the same time. Keep this going until your run out of powdered sugar!
-Sorry, one more step! Almost forgot! You need to add your food coloring! I did only like 2 drops!
-Once you’ve finished with all of that you should have achieved a thick frosting like as if you would have bought it from the store!
Now just simply frost your cupcakes, add a few sprinkles if you desire and eat them up! I hope you enjoy!
