Dollar Store DIY: Leprechaun Hat Treat Holder

If you are going to be enjoying the company of family or friends this St. Patrick’s Day season, why not spiff up your table with these Leprechaun Hat Treat Holders? Perfect for filling with gold coins (the chocolate ones of course!) or other treats of your choice, they make the perfect party favor.

Even better, they only cost pennies each to make. Take a peek below at how to make your very own Leprechaun Hat Treat Holders so you can enjoy them at your St. Patrick’s Day festivities. Take a look!

Leprechaun Hat Treat Holder

Supplies needed:

Plastic leprechaun hats

Green or similar ribbon

Faux/silk clovers

Glue gun, hot glue

We were able to find these leprechaun hats sold in packs of 6 at our local dollar store. We also found a roll of ribbon and bouquet of clovers for just $1 each. Our total cost for this project was around $3, and we could make 6 treat holders at that price. That is just a few cents per project!

Directions:

1. Begin by flipping your hat over so the inside is exposed. Snip off the elastic band that come attached to it.

2. Replace the band with a length of ribbon. A 5-6 inch cut will do. Use your hot glue to attach the ribbon to the sides of the hat. Attaching it on the inside of the hat works best and keeps the outside nice and clean.

3. You now want to add some embellishment to the ribbon. Snip off a few of the clovers (they came attached to a stem)and use your glue to attach a cluster of them to the ribbon. Should you wish to add any to the hat, you are welcome to do this too.

4. Fill the inside of the hat with a little tissue paper (we used some silk carnations we had on hand) or  other filler of your choice.
Now all you need to do is fill the hat up with treats. These will look great at each place setting or on a buffet waiting for your guests as they arrive. Either way, these are a fun and frugal way to get into the

St. Patrick’s Day holiday!
