Mother's Day is around the corner and the hubby and kids show their appreciation. We bust our rumps all year long preparing well rounded meals and running kids everywhere. While I LOVE to be appreciated I've also learned that I need to make sure I'm doing some self-care and not relying on anyone else.

I used to suffer from mom-guilt about having a night out with my friends or soaking in a bubble bath with a glass of wine and some music but not anymore. If WE don't take care of ourselves we will have nothing left to give. Don't let your well run dry. Now I make sure I have that time to myself or out with friends and doing things that replenish the soul. For me it is gardening or reading a book. I also love sitting on the beach in the morning with a cup of coffee or going to my kickboxing class. I feel fierce and I'm taking care of myself.

Make sure you are taking time with friends, go get a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Join a book club or train to run a 5k with your girlfriends. Do something that reminds you of who you are without the kids.

I also give myself quick little breaks during the day. If I'm waiting for a child at orchestra I read a chapter or two of a book or I have a quick snack. I enjoy Café Breaks pudding.
