Dollar Store DIY CRAFT: Owl Lantern
If you love the look of owls, you will love this easy to craft owl lantern. Using just a few dollar store materials, you can craft your own owl lantern, perfect for celebrating the fall season. Take a look below at how we made our own in just minutes. This is a frugal fall craft that you will want to enjoy!
Here is what you will need:
Large canning jar
Owl die cuts
White craft glue or Mod Podge
Halloween ribbon
Scissors
Votive
With the exception of the Mod Podge, we found everything we needed at our local Dollar Tree store.
The owl die cuts are sold 12/$1, making them perfect for this craft AND future ones.
Directions:
1. Begin by applying a thin layer of glue or Mod Podge to the front of the jar. Smooth it out in  an even layer.
2. Press the owl down on top of the layer. Smooth it out with your fingers to remove any wrinkles.
3. Apply another thin layer of craft glue or Mod Podge over the owl. Cover the owl completely and continue to smooth the glue evenly.
4. Cut a length of ribbon and wrap it around the top of the jar. You can either tie it in a bow, or just make a simple knot as we did.
You can now insert your votive into the jar. A battery operated votive or real votive will work great!
Light it up, and see how the whole jar glows! The cut outs in the eyes of the owl will even let some of the light through, making it super spooky!
Gather your supplies and give this easy owl lantern a try. It is a great way to decorate your home for the fall season for less!
