Snowman Bulb Ornament (Easy Kids’ Christmas Craft)

When my girls were little, they went a little ornament-crazy every December, and this snowman bulb ornament was one of the easiest we made. A clear ornament gets filled with fluffy fake snow, then painted with a cheery face and finished with pom-pom earmuffs. Even little kids can make one with a bit of help, and they make sweet gifts for grandparents and teachers.

Supplies

• Clear plastic or glass ornament bulbs (plastic is safer for kids)
• Fake snow or very fine foam beads
• Black and orange craft paint
• Small paintbrush or cotton swabs
• 2 craft pom-poms per ornament
• 1 or 2 pipe cleaners
• Ribbon and twine
• Low-temp hot glue gun

How to make it

1. Remove the ornament cap and fill the bulb with fake snow. Put the cap back on.
2. Paint two black eyes and a dotted coal mouth on the front.
3. Paint a small orange carrot nose between the eyes and mouth. Let dry.
4. Glue a pom-pom on each side near the top for earmuffs.
5. Twist two pipe cleaners together, thread them through the cap loop and glue the ends behind each pom-pom for the earmuff band.
6. Glue a small ribbon bow at the bottom and tie twine through the top for a hanger.

Tips

• Use plastic bulbs with young kids to avoid broken glass.
• Cotton swabs make perfect round coal dots.
• Write the year on the back with a paint pen for a keepsake.
