Choices (The Guardian Trilogy)

Hearts break. Loved ones are lost. Life keeps moving.

Olivia Martin’s afterlife was more dangerous and confusing than her life ever was. She thought she was ready to come back, to forget about Holden and to let go of the rage consuming her. Fulfilling her destiny as a guardian was all that mattered—the past could stay hidden in the crevices of her mind. However, when guardians are murdered and the evidence points towards jinn, she has to do something. To save anyone’s future, Olivia will have to confront the one person from her past she is terrified to see.

Holden waited for Olivia with the hope he would see her one more time. But when she didn’t return, he found salvation in darkness. The black and twisted road made it easier to forget what he lost than to live with the memory of what he had. An unexpected promotion shoves him into a world of intoxicating power and influence. Holden will have to choose between his new life and the woman he thought was gone forever.

From the ashes of Secrets, Choices are born that will change everything.

Mandie's Thoughts – Liz Schulte is one of my favorite authors. First I got hooked on her Mystery Dark Corners then read the first book in this series Secrets. I'm a HUGE fan of urban fantasy. I wasn't sure she could make the jump between genres but she didn't disappoint.

Spoilers if you didn't read Secrets –

If you thought Holden and Olivia had a complicated relationship in Secrets then amplify by 1000. Olivia comes back 3 years later as a guardian after Holden killed her. If you didn't read Secrets…. he had to. (You have to read it to find out why.) But she hasn't forgiven him, she feels betrayed and is hiding herself from him.

Now she is back and very powerful. No matter how hard she tries she is still drawn to Holden (how could she NOT be , really?) There are new characters and some from the past, all are rich and complicated. I know if I ever pick up a book by Liz Schulte that there will be great character development even with the minor characters. You also get to meet Femi who has a short in Cupid Painted Blind Anthology and I adore her.

I'm REALLY REALLY looking forward to Consequences, the third book in the series coming out this fall. If you haven't picked up this series yet I highly suggest it.

The author is having a really cool contest. Check it out HERE
