These melted candy cane ornaments look like stained glass snowflakes! Crushed blue and white (or classic red and white) candy canes melt in metal cookie molds in the oven, then harden into shiny ornaments. Hang them on the tree, tie them onto gifts, or just enjoy them as a minty treat.

Supplies
- Candy canes (blue and white, red and white, or both)
- Metal snowflake or shaped cookie molds or a metal mini tart pan (not silicone)
- Parchment paper
- Ribbon
- Frosting (if you want to eat them) or craft glue (for display only)
How to make it
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment. Set the metal molds on top.
- Unwrap the candy canes and break them into 1/3-inch pieces.
- Fill each mold about halfway with candy pieces.
- Bake 8 to 12 minutes, watching closely, until the candy melts and fills the mold.
- Let cool 5 minutes, then freeze 5 minutes so they release easily.
- Gently pop them out. Attach a ribbon loop with a dab of frosting (to eat) or glue (for display).
Tips
- Grown-ups handle the oven step. Melted candy is extremely hot and sticky.
- Watch closely after 8 minutes; candy can scorch quickly.
- Poke a hole for ribbon with a warm skewer while the candy is still slightly soft.
- Store in a dry spot. Humidity makes them sticky, so hang them close to the day you serve them.
