10 things to do in Daytona Beach with kids

Daytona is such a fun place to visit after all, it is the most popular beach in the world. That's because there is so much to do! I'm lucky to say that I live close and we visit often. Many visitors come to Daytona for bike week which isn't very child friendly and others come for Nascar and frankly the kids might need a reprieve from watching the cars go round and round. Don't worry, there are plenty of things you can do with the kids. I've made a list of 10 things to do in Daytona Beach with kids.

The Beach

Of course you know about the beach. It is one of the most popular in the world. There are 23 miles of beaches and it is FREE! There are many places you can park and walk down and even some places where you can drive. Older kids love to go surfing, paddle boarding, and kayaking. The little kids love to play in the sand and swim and everyone can go fishing.  Make sure to also check out the Daytona beach pier!

Daytona Arcade Museum

Perfect for kids or the big kid at heart. The Daytona Arcade museum is so much fun! You pay one price and get to play everything all day long. No shelling out quarters and it has the largest selection of vintage games anywhere! It is great to share the video games you grew up with with your kids. They have a snack bar and even offer craft beers for the adults.

Daytona Lagoon

I love Daytona Lagoon so much I have annual passes for my entire family. The water slides and pools are so much fun but there is so much to do on the dry side as well. We love the go carts, rock climbing wall, laser tag, and so much more. We go a lot! It is so much fun for the entire family and I highly recommend whether you are visiting or a local.

Sun Splash Park

Looking for something fun for the little ones? Check out Sun Splash Park. This 4-acre park features a seasonal interactive splash pad, walkways & a covered playground. It is right off the beach so you can play for a bit then walk down and enjoy the waves. Best part, it is FREE!

Hangar 15

Perfect for rainy days or any time the kids need to get some extra energy out, Hangar 15 has over 60 trampolines! They also have foam pits and more. I have to say that I love to jump as much as my kids but if that isn't your thing then there are comfy seats and an observation deck.

Planetarium

Something fun and educational for the kids while on vacation? Yes please! The Daytona Museum of Arts and Sciences has a great planetarium show. The planetarium has 94 seats and OmniStar™ projector fitted with a fish-eye lens, capable of displaying vibrant and colorful HD content across their expansive 40-foot hemispherical dome.  If you are looking for something a little more relaxing and in the a/c, I highly recommend visiting the plantearium. You don't even have to tell the kids they are actually learning something.

Ponce Inlet lighthouse

No vacation is complete without a little history. Step back in time and visit the Ponce de leon lighthouse and museum. At 203 steps, it is the tallest lighthouse in all of Florida! You'll enjoy views of the world's Most Famous Beach, Ponce Inlet, and surrounding inland waterways from the lighthouse gallery deck.

Daytona International Speedway

Many people come to Daytona specifically for the races. They are great for older kids! There are even all access tours at Daytona International Speedway if you are looking for the race experience without watching the race.

Marine Science Center

We love the Marine Science Center and it is right by the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse! There is an aquatic touch pool where the kids can feel some stingrays as well as a Turtle tot program. I find this science center great for preschoolers and elementary school age children.

Daytona Beach Boardwalk

Looking for fun entertainment for the entire family? Daytona Beach Boardwalk is the place to be. There are a lot of dining options as well as free entertainment. Sometimes there are sword swallowers and other times a free magic show. You can also play arcade games or ride a ferris wheel. The board walk is fun and relaxing, a little something for everyone.

I hope my list of 10 things to do in Daytona Beach with kids was helpful. Do you love Daytona beach? Leave comments letting everyone know where you think they should visit!

  1. I have been coming to Daytona Beach for the past 40 years the beach is great the only problem is there are a lot of homeless but they don’t really bother you if you stay away from them. Beautifully flat beach. Cannot wait to go back!!

  2. I’ve never been to Daytona, but there certainly is a lot to do. I think it’s where my parents spent their honeymoon.
