I wanted to read this book because I've always thought it was important children understand that they should love themselves for who they are. This is a great read for any child, not just those with ethnic hair. I've always been a proponent of reading books that show other religions, ethnicities, and view points so you understand what others are dealing with.
Nikki is a great character that is learning to love herself for who she is. I highly recommend this book!
