It's summertime now and you may be hearing the inevitable “I'm bored”.Many times kids are used a strict routine and when it is interrupted they forget how to figure how to do things on their own.Even though we homeschool there are days when I hear those dreaded words. I've come up with 5 Ways to Spark Creativity in Your Child because sometimes they need a little extra push.*1. Music – Whether it is Mozart or something to shake their bums I believe music can change our moods and spark creativity. If we are drawing we listen to classical, if we are exercising we pump it up some!*2. Art Supplies – Make sure to have paint, colored pencils, plenty of paper, and scissors on hand. We let them go at it and make whatever they want. Sometimes it is easier if you give them a topic.*3. Complete Silence – You are probably thinking – Kids and complete silence? Yeah right! It is like a meditation, lay down and have them close their eyes. You can listen to light music if they can't handle the quiet. Even 5 minutes of laying there and minds wander. They may want to write or draw something afterwards!*4. Stimulate the mind with scents – We have oil burners in every room where we add different scents. Our favorite is orange oil, the citrus is very stimulating! You can put blindfolds on the kids and have them smell different things. It is a fun game too.*5. Dance and dance some more – Dancing is good for the soul and good for the mind, it requires both sides of the brain to be used; control and creativity. As a mom I do everything I can make their fun carefree life possible so the last thing they need to do is worry about their allergies.
