EasytoMakeplanterstandMy husband does all sorts of neat things around the house so I decided I was going to start following him around with my camera. We have a lot of upcoming gardening projects coming up too so stay tuned.

First up is this Easy to Make Planter Stand.

Now that Spring is here I can take all of my plants out of my office and take them back out of the house and put them on the patios.  This year my husband decided to build planter stand for the potted plants. He even added casters so we could easily roll them around. It really comes in handy when I want to pressure wash the patio or roll them around to give them water.

The best part is these were really cheap to make.  He had some 1X4's laying around and the casters weren't expensive.

The first thing he did was line up the boards to see how big he needed them to be. He like things square. He added the flower pot holder to gauge how big he wanted to make it.

He made sure everything was square before he cut. He always says check twice, cut once.

You need a good sharp table saw to cut the boards even. You can get one at The Sharp Cut.

When they were cut even he put paint stirrers in between the boards to add spacing.

Once he measured them out he added wood to the backing to attach the panels together.

He screwed three of the wood pieces so the planter was sturdy.

Next he added the casters by screwing them in. He first measured and marked where each caster would go.

The planters turned out fantastic. We can move them around and it is even easy for the girls to move the plants out of the way now.

My husband make his perfectly square but you can make them rectangle or circle as well.

We now have several of these all over the patio.

Recently we added a stone path with river rock on the side of the house and soon my husband is building an outdoor kitchen with a pergola over it for shade. I also hope he gets to the outdoor shower before this Summer since we go to the beach so often. I will be taking pictures of it all so be sure to follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and Get my emails.

  1. What a good idea! My dad has a whole home woodworking shop full of scraps of lumber. He has to have some things that I could finagle into neat rolling stands like yours. I think he’s even got some old decking he just replaced (packrat).

    It’s project time!
