We have 3 bedrooms and there are only two children but we decided we wanted them to share a room.
My girls are two years apart and we wanted them to be very close to each other so we have them share a room and the other room is a playroom. I admit it has worked. My girls are very best friends!
Some days I hear ‘Mom, why did I have to clean the room, I didn't make the mess.' Well, I'll be honest, we're still working on that. My oldest daughter is patient most days and is helping teach her messy sister to put everything back. Other days she is the one making the mess.
It is a tiny room so we have bunk beds to help with space. We also have closet organizers, and storage underneath the bed.
Right now it's decorated in Tinkerbell but as they are getting older I see a shift in their style. My seven year old loves Monster High dolls. She is my little artist and English nerd. My youngest loves cooking and is very fairy like “Earthy”. I know we are going to have to redecorate soon. I will let them each add bits of their personality while keeping a general color scheme.
I like the bunk beds because they each feel like them have their own personal spaces. They each add their own art to the wall by their beds. They ‘visit' each others spaces to play.
When they need private time they crawl up on their bunk beds with a video game or book and do their own thing. I know eventually they will want their own rooms but I'm VERY happy they are enjoying each others' company for now.
